Edgy, ethnically diverse and formerly big on industry, the expansive Pittsburgh metro area is today a mix of its steel-making roots and a growing pool of young professionals who contribute to this destination's high livability score.
It's a diverse permanent collection of fine art works, folk art, historic artifacts and natural history exhibits that awaits visitors to the Everhart Museum. In addition to fossils, dinosaur bones, and various installations, this facility also has a number of paintings by American artists including colorful pieces done by local folk arists from earlier centuries and even contemporary artists like Alex Katz. Be sure to watch for the Mourning Hair Wreath - a Victorian-era wreath made of human hair - and the numerous bird species on show in the Natural History galleries.
