Anglers, avid hikers, paddlers and honeymooners are par for the course in the Poconos region, a destination known for its rivers, mountains and peaceful forests.
Bitter Springs Back Country Byway offers a drive with many rock formations, like the Muddy Mountains and colorful sandstone for sight seeing. Along the byway, visit abandoned borax mines and evidence of rivers that have long since dried up. Bitter Springs is close to many entertaining and informational areas such as Las Vegas, the Valley of Fire State Park, the Moapa Indian Reservation, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Hoover Dam.
Take I-15 North out of Las Vegas
Take the Valley of Fire exit and head south (right).
When the paved road turns, stay strait onto the maintained dirt road, passing a BLM sign. You are now on the scenic drive. Take care as portions of this drive are not well maintained and require a high clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicle.
We offer a compact version of Go-Pennsylvania for mobile users, allowing you to access just the information you need on the road. Of course, you can still use the full version of Go-Pennsylvania on your mobile device just as you can on your desktop.
