World-class museums, important historic sites and a top-notch cultural calendar earn Philadelphia the right to a place in the great East Coast city pantheon.
The Lehigh River is a great getaway in eastern Pennsylvania and the Pocono Mountains. Lehigh Gorge State Park is home to the river making for a very scenic whitewater rafting trip surrounded by protected mountains and forests. The river is open for rafting during the spring and hot summer months thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who recently got more water to run into the river.
The Lehigh River has an incredible seventeen rapids ranging from classes II to III including the Snaggletooth and Cookie Monster. The dam releases its water every other weekend starting May 13th until September 30th. The Lehigh offers an ideal rafting trip if you are looking for some class III rapids and a great intermediate day of whitewater and sun.
This river welcomes all rafters ages eight and up. The season starts at the end of March and runs to mid-October. Enjoy the water and the beautiful surrounds all summer long on this quality river.
