Description

Home to one of the nation's largest collections of art and artifacts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art boasts a bit of everything, from chain mail and recreated period rooms to paintings by noted Renaissance artists and French Impressionists, contemporary mixed-media presentations and two-dimensional works by famous 20th-century talents and a host of other visual treats. In the history-oriented rooms upstairs wander from Indian temple to Italy, China to the Medieval period exploring installations and artworks. Shuttle buses run regularly down the hill to the recently renovated Perelman Building, where changing exhibits are displayed that range from Matisse to modern design and include large contemporary installations.
