The lower end of Sugar Run holds some brown trout that have migrated from the Allegheny Reservoir.

There are no developed campgrounds along either stream. Dispersed camping is allowed in the area.

State Route 321 parallels much of Sugar Run. Forest Road 271 parallels the North Branch.
