Description

Willow Bay has over 100 family campsites, each containing a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Facilities include hot water showers, flush and vault toilets, pressurized water fountains, and a trailer dump station. Dead and down wood may be used as firewood.

There's a broad, concrete boat launch with a courtesy dock and a spacious parking lot. The large, well-shaded picnic area, with restrooms and a pavilion, sits on a slope overlooking the Allegheny Reservoir. An early morning or late evening walk often provides exciting opportunities to view a variety of wildlife.

Additional Details

Willow Bay Recreation Area is located 15 miles west of Bradford, PA, on State Route 346, just south of the New York State line. The area overlooks the south shore of Willow Bay, a small arm on the eastern side of the Allegheny Reservoir.

The North Country National Scenic Trail crosses SR 346 just south of the recreation area. Just across the New York State line (via SR 346), is the Riverview-Corydon Cemetery, where a monument to Seneca Chief Cornplanter stands. The Seneca/Iroquois Indian Museum and the Salamanca Rail Museum, both in nearby Salamanca, NY, provide insight into native American history and the railroad industry. The Quaker Area of Allegany State Park (NY) is just a few miles north of the state line.

Willow Bay was built in the early 1960s by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. When completed, it was turned over to the USDA, Forest Service (Allegheny National Forest).
