In northeast Pennsylvania, Scranton is one of the most industrial regions existing today in the United States. Known for its iron furnaces, Scranton remains a blue-collar town where the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour and the Steamtown National Historic Site are two of the attractions in the area.
Skiing is available at the over twenty trails on Montage Mountain, and Scranton is saturated with golf courses. Frances Slocum State Park, in nearby Wyoming, PA, offers hiking, fishing, camping and boating on hundreds of acres of land.
I-78, I-80 and I-84 run through Scranton east-west, and I-81 and I-380 run north-south.
